Doc on Tehran oldest neighborhood in works

A documentary on Tehran’s oldest neighborhood Oudlajan is set to be made based on fieldwork and academic research.

Morteza Monshi’s documentary ‘Oudlajan, Heart of Tehran’ featuring the capital’s oldest neighborhood is in the works.

A media report quoted the director on Monday as saying that the doc is based on fieldwork and academic research, adding that the project tries to portray features of such neighborhood in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The zone leads to Naserkhosro neighborhood westwards, Rei city eastwards, Amir Kabir northwards and 15th Khordad Avenue southwards. A great number of historical monuments, including Imamzadeh Yahya  mausoleum, are located within such impressive neighborhood in the capital.

Many prominent figures in contemporary history of Tehran lived in Oudlajan, including  notable Iranian reformer and religious leader, Seyyed Hassan Modarres.

Oudlajan along with Arg, Sangelaj, Bazar and Chalmeidan, formed a bulky portion of Old Tehran during the reign of Qajar king Nasir al-Din Shah in the 19th century.
